Eating For Power
Nutrition is what fuels the body. I don't care if you're a solid gym- goer if your diet is horrible it's going to be tough to get the gains you want. You can't out run your fork. Fueling the body with these power foods will be sure to help your body run optimum capacity.
Top 10 foods to help promote muscle growth in no particular order:
1.) Quinoa – A South American superfood packed with protein. Quinoa is a grain that contains a complete protein meaning that it contains all nine of the essential amino acids. This grain is also packed with fiber, iron, and magnesium.
2.) Fish – Fish may be one of the best foods to help build muscle. Salmon and Tuna being the best. These foods are packed with protein, Vitamin D, and Omega-3 Fatty Acids.
3.) Chicken – Chicken is a high in protein and low in fat making it a great food when trying to pack on muscle and wanting to lose fat.
4.) Almonds – Plant based food packed with protein. Raw almonds make a great protein filled snack that is also packed with monounsaturated fats and magnesium.
5.) Lean Ground Beef – Lean Ground Beef has 27 grams of protein and 10 grams of fat for 200 calories. Making it a great food to put on mass.
6.) Cottage Cheese – Low fat or Fat free Cottage Cheese is a low calorie high protein food. Making it a no brainer for anyone trying to get more protein in there diet.
7.) Oysters – Oysters may be my all-time favorite muscle growing food mostly for the taste. A medium oyster has about 5 grams of protein for only 41 calories making them high in protein and low in fat. Oysters contain more Zinc than any other food along with magnesium which are both essential for protein synthesis.
8.) Chia seeds – With 5,000 mg of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) per ounce, getting your omega-3s has never been easier. Excellent source.
9.) Baby spinach - Just like Pop-Eye get your spinach in daily. Two cups of this leafy green pack more than 3 times your daily recommended dose of bone-friendly vitamin K.
10.) Eggs – Eggs are my go to snack. They are easy to make, low cost, and come with meeverywhere. At about 90 calories they have 6 grams of protein. Egg protein is the easiest protein for your body to utilize. Meaning it will help you pack on that extra lean muscle that you are going for.
